Wiki'd Nail Challenge

Salicylic Acid

Almost at the end of this challenge,  and from the start I knew what I wanted to do for this one. Hope you are all well, just a quick post today as my daughter is almost at the end of her years in junior school and it's a very busy time for me to with different things going at her school.
So anyway back to Salicylic Acid nails... A while ago I saw some kids blow pens, and for £1 bought a pack to try on my nails.

Well today was the first time I tried them. With my nails painted matte white and fingers protected with liquid latex (as I knew this would be messy) I blew the red ink on my nails. Waited for a while then removed the liquid latex to find the ink had soaked through and stained my skin red!!! Tried removing with acetone, but nope still red fingers. Also the ink never dried on my nails. I should have took a photo, but was more concerned with cleaning my hand. Whitening toothpaste and a scrubbing brush did the trick, but I wouldn't recommend it. Or buying these pens...We live and learn.
The reason I wanted to do a white and red splatter nail for Salicylic Acid is my eldest daughter is allergic to it, and we found this out a few years ago when she used a face wash one night before bed, and woke in the morning with a red blotchy and swollen face.
So with a matte white base again I had another go, but this time I dipped a dry sponge into red nail polish, dabbed off the excess on tissue and the sponged onto my nails. No topcoat as I like the effect and texture made with the sponge. A very simple mani for this challenge, but I really could think of anything else to do!!

The main hub page is the place to go to look back at all the Wiki inspired nails, and till next time stay safe and much love...

    1. They are fun pens, just a shame they stain your skin and don't seem to dry on your nails x

  5. I have never seen pens like that before! At least you were able to get the effect you wanted, albeit by different means
