OMG LED Nail Strips

Light up Nails..

I was so looking forward to doing this review on the OMG LED Nail Strips. Special little chips that you apply to your nails, that light up by using the NYC setting on an Android phone. I was sent one for use with normal nail polish, and one for gel or acrylic nails.

Once you have the NYC setting turned on, and you hold the chip on the back of your phone, the tiny little light flashes.

So you can imagine how awesome this would look on nails!!
I was also going to use the pink rose sticker, and have the light shine through the centre. I painted my ring finger with Nails Inc. New York Noir, and the rest in Avon Revel Rose.

This is where the fun started!  I carefully pealed the led chip off the plastic backing and applied to my ring finger as per the instructions on the packet. I held my finger on the back of my phone and....nothing. I was dubious, I mean how will the NFC beam penitrate through my finger. So I carefully took off my nail and reapplied the other way round. Still nothing!  The video I found by Robin Moses on youtube, she applied the led light to a false nail. By this time, even though I had removed it from my nail for a second time, the sticky was gone and I was unable to try on a false nail.
The other floral stickers however are really pretty, so I carried on and did the mani I was planning with the light.

So pretty and such a shame I was unable to get the led light to work. Sadly I can't try again as I only had 1 to try with. But still happy with this finished manicure.
Have you heard or tried these OMG strips yourself?  I'd love to know how you got on, and if you managed to get it to work on natural nails.
Till next time, stay safe and much love...

  1. Hey Tracey! I love the design you came up with! Too bad the chip didn't work for you... Did you have the NFC function turned on on your phone? It has to be on in order for it to work :) When it's turned on, you want to place your finger right on top of the NFC spot on the back of your phone. It's a little tricky! Most people use artificial nails to encase the chip so it's not a bump on the nail. It doesn't change anything for it to work or not, just a convenience thing. You've made me curious, now I really want to try it too!

    1. Thank you for your comment and yes the NFC was turned on on my phone. Not matter where I place my finger I just couldn't get the light to flash, yet after the first time I pealed it off my nail and held it to the back of my phone it worked. Sadly I am unable to try again as I said in my post I was only sent one led chip to try, so I am a little disapointed that I couldn't get it to light up x

    2. Awww that sucks! I have no right to speak anyways, I've never even turned my NFC function on or tried one of these stickers. I wish it would have worked better for you...

  7. The nail stickers itself look indeed very pretty but such a shame that you were unable to get the led light to work. But when the effect wouldn't have failed, these stickers would have been sooooo cool! But I love the manicure without the effect as well. I think you have done an amazing job!

  11. I wonder... Was your battery charged all the way or almost dead? And do you have a case on your phone? Either might mess with the frequency...

Gorgeous mani nonetheless, and maybe next time it'll work :)
