My nail preparation
Hello all, I hope all had a great New Year and have recovered the festive season!! For my first post of 2014, I along with other British Nail Bloggers are doing a themed post on the Base and Topcoats we always use on our nails. I also wanted to add the cuticle oil and hand cream in mine as I use these alot too.
I have always shopped on a budget, and my no buy for polish is still in place,( apart from 2/3 I'm getting from ebay!!) but the polishes I'm going to share with you have always worked well for me :)
I did used to use Superdrug own 3 in 1 basecoat, but sadly I can't seem to find it in their stores. So my go to one is now by Collection. Its a 2 in 1 Ridge Filler and Base coat. It smooths my nails nicely and I have had no problems with applying any polish. Dries so a slight matte finish.
My go to topcoat since I started painting my nails has never changed. La Femme Clear, I have found this dries pretty quick and when I do a stamped design on my nails, a quick light coat of this doesn't smear or smudge the design. Then I use Sally Hansen 30 second Insta-dri topcoat. Leaves an awesome gel like shine to my nails, and touch dry in 30 seconds!!
I can honestly say I have never had any peeling polish or the tip of my polish chipping. I still do all the same things I did before I started to grow my nails, the only thing I do different now is wear gloves when I'm washing up or cleaning. I have no expert way of using the oils and creams, but it works for me :)
About 4 to 5 times a day I use Superdrugs 2 in 1 hand and nail cream all over my hands and nails. When I take my polish off I use Sally Hansen Cuticle pen or Superdrug's cuticle oil pen. All round the base of my nails. About once a month I apply Sally Hansen Strengthener to my nails, and before I go to sleep I use Superdrug Conditioning Cuticle Cream, its like the pen but in a cream.
