Remembrance Day Poppy Nails

Lest We Forget

Hey all, hope you are all well. Its a very miserable, dull and rainy Saturday here today :( but the weather won't stop me from doing my nails, even though I can't get a decent photo outside!
This is the first year I have done my nails in remembrance for all the brave soldiers we have lost over the years, and I chose to do a Poppy design.
I'm not normally a green polish person, though I have quite a few bottles!! And choosing the right shade of green was a bit tricky. After some trial and error I found the right shade.

Sally Hansen Complete Manicure in Grass Slipper

This polish was one of my bargain buys from Poundland. A beautiful cream, grass colour. Could easy be a one coater, but as always I did two.

A beautiful shine too, no top coat here! For the Poppies I used the red and black polish I got earlier this week in the Glamour Magazine.

Kate Spade NI in Big Apple Red and New York Noir

With a dotting tool I made poppy/flower shapes on each nail. I admit some just look like dodgy blobs lol, but I'm happy with them.

Then again with a smaller dotting tool added black dots to the centre of each poppy.

It was so overcast outside that the flash on my camera still went off over though I had light going into my light box. So I stood outside on the front step to quickly get another two photos in somewhat natural lighting.
I love these so much, even though as I said earlier I'm not a green polish person!! Hope you like them too :)
Thats all for today, have a great weekend and stay safe...

  4. I love them! I have painted mine also, cobalt blue with red poppies, but I think your gorgeous green is a better background! I've not use Sally Hansen polishes before, I love that colour though!

  6. Great idea, a fantastic way to show your support. Next year you should offer Poppy Manicures for a donation and then give the proceeds to The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

  7. Beautifully done. I agree with Kate H's idea. You should plan something on those lines considering how good you are at nailart.
